The Sport Medicine Centre facilitates and produces basic, translational, clinical and population research to conduct an evidence-based practice of medicine. The SMC Supports multi-disciplinary research among interested faculties and individual faculty members at the University of Calgary. The Sport Medicine Centre has research relationships with University faculties of Medicine and Engineering , the Joint and Arthritis Research Group (JIARG) and the Peter Lougheed and Foothills hospitals. The Sport Medicine Centre develops and promotes inter-provincial, national and international research projects and interests in sport medicine. In the last ten years the SMC has received $7.35 million in grants and contributions for research and other academic matters; and submitted 163 refereed publications and 316 total publications.
